Family Research |
 |
Unfortunately, the Office of the Grand Lodge of
Ontario does not record or retain any family information of deceased or
living members of the Odd Fellow and Rebekah Lodges in Ontario. The only
information that we retain is the information, from Odd Fellow Lodges, as
found on the Annual Returns to the Grand Lodge. The Odd Fellow and
Rebekah Lodges to which persons may have held membership does not, as a
rule, record family information. Minutes of Lodges generally refer only
to activities within that specific Lodge.
The Grand Lodge Office is generally able to supply
information as to when a respective Lodge was instituted, when a person
joined the Order, when and why a persons membership ceased and then only
if a Lodge name, number and location of the local Lodge is provided, along
with approximate date joined.
Requests for
information on Rebekah Lodge Members should be directed to the Secretary
of the Rebekah Assembly.
Grand Lodge archival
materials can be made available, at our office, for persons interested in
researching family history, as long as the utmost of care is given to the
records.
Lodge members should refrain from giving false
hopes to those seeking family information when the services of a
Genealogist should be considered.
